The 11-mile Cades Cove Loop has
been developed
by the National Park Service as a living museum in
order
to preserve some aspects of the mountain culture including
mountain cabins, a few barns, a gristmill, and three churches.
An early morning
start may provide the added
excitement of seeing the deer and wild
turkey that often feed here. |

Cades Cove is encircled in tall peaks, heavily wooded,
and enveloped in the blue mist that makes a perfect frame
for
this pastoral setting.
Here you can enjoy the
upland valley with broad
pastures and grazing
cattle.

Almost 100 families lived once in the cove without
electricity and depended on one another; family, neighbors, and
friends.
One can only
imagine the great satisfaction there must have been in discovering
the wide and fertile valley
