MYRTLE  POINT

The short hike (.7 miles) to Myrtle Point is usually made in the morningto watch the sunrise. You will pass a point where many trails come together.

The trail to Myrtle Point also takes you past the LeConte Shelter which was full of hikers on this particular day.

You will also pass by this cairn at High Point
on a short side trail.

Even in the middle of the day (as opposed to sunrise) we found the views on the way to Myrtle Point to be spectacular!

In 1934, Jack Huff, Gatlinburg pioneer and founder of LeConte Lodge, chose a sunrise service at Myrtle Point to marry his wife, Pauline.

Once arriving at Myrtle Point, it was easy to see why experiencing a sunrise here can only be described as incomparable.
