Over the Christmas holiday, we took a 5.4 mile round-trip day
hike up to Rainbow Falls. We didn't see too many hikers.

(Rainbow's 80 foot falls is the highest in the Smoky Mountains.)

The next day, the Smokies were hit with a winter storm
and the park was closed, cancelling our plans
for a hike inside the park.

We headed back up to Cherokee Orchard Road to the
Rainbow Falls trailhead and hiked the trail again
- what a difference a day makes!
