Once upon a time. a long time ago, Dale Coovert played rhythm guitar in a legendary band from Dayton, Ohio named ROCK CITY. Other members included Lynn Rowe on lead guitar, Larry Gault on bass, and Patrick Aicholtz on drums. Johnny "Fat Boy" Ander played harmonica occasionally.
"I had lost touch with everyone until recently ... I've recently exchanged some emails with Larry (Big Gnu) ... he sent me a photo of a band he's in with Michael Hitchcock (with whom I played in the Blind Rainbow Blues Band way back when) ... have not heard from anyone else though (although Larry tells me that Pat and Lynn still play) ... after Rock City broke up, Lynn and I played in a band (Godzilla) in Boston for a summer then that was pretty much it for me ... I eventually moved to Philadelphia (where my daughter was born) then to Florida (where I've been since 1982). "
"Currently, I work as a college professor (a huge national mostly online university ... but they pay me well and ask little of me) ... I've been a licensed psychologist since 1989 ... worked in an inpatient unit (for the most difficult cases in Florida) then ran the unit for some years then became Chief of Staff of the hospital ... I started teaching (statistics of all things) at Eckerd College while I was still an undergraduate there and have taught ever since ... I'm the Founding Dean of the Florida School of Professional Psychology (a PsyD program) and have (happily) been teaching full-time for about six or seven years now ... my goal in life (at this point) is to never be in charge of anything ever again."
"I play guitar very occasionally ... in fact, I sold all my guitars and amps to pay for college years ago and went for close to twenty years without any guitar at all ... I do draw like a madman, though (under the pseudonym Andy Nukes) ... a Google search will net you a number of my drawings (of which I've had about 500 published over the years). "
All in all, it's been an amazing trip (so far) and really, in most ways, this is the best part of my life ...
