Former TV personality Johnny Walker dies

Johnny Walker, a longtime Dayton television personality and businessman, died in his home in Lady Lake, Fla., on January 25, 2005.

Walker was 63 years old and had been fighting cancer in his lungs and adrenal gland.

He retired as president of Hara Arena in 2001 and before that had worked in broadcasting in Dayton since 1960.

He was news director and an on-air personality at WKEF-TV, Channel 22. He also spent 18 years as host of the annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystropy Telethon over Labor Day weekend.

He was buried in Dayton, Ohio.
