Rusty Burge - Michael Sharfe Quartet
"Frequency"

© 2009 Frequency (659696198524)

Vibraphone and Bass driven acoustic modern jazz. Spontaneous, relaxed and grooving.

Frequency is the result of two sessions recorded at The Blue Wisp Jazz Club in July of 2008. After years of various gigs and recording sessions Mike and I realized that we shared many of the same musical concepts. We decided that (besides the need to move past eight long years of woeful politics!) the world could use more vibraphone-bass driven improvised music. In the end the playing on these sessions was spontaneous and relaxed in the familiar confines of the Blue Wisp. The frequency of the moment was more than ideal.

Rusty Burge teaches percussion/vibes at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He is also a member of Percussion Group Cincinnati, which has toured and recorded extensively for many years.

Michael Sharfe is one of the top working jazz bassists in the midwest. He is the bass player for the legendary Blue Wisp Big Band. His versatility on both upright and electric bass put him in demand for a wide variety artists such as Jamie Aebersold, Bobby Broom, the Psycho Acoustic Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.
