I had the opportunity to work with Phil on a couple projects, including my album, "Girls Don't Play Rock and Roll."
Cyberteknics Studio was established in early 1969 by Philip Mehaffey. Located in the outskirts of downtown Dayton, Ohio. The studio offers a great analog and digital recording opportunity. From Country to Rap, we do it all. We also make and sale beats for those who need a little help with your project. The owner, Phil, has worked with many national/international bands and musicians such as Michael Jackson, The Breeders, Keith Sweat, Guided By Voices along with countless others.
Cyberteknics has a staff of award winning engineers and musicians as well. The studio itself is comprised of one main recording area for drums, pianos and guitars, along with a large vocal booth with vintage vocal mics, and the main production room with two analog 2 in. tape recorders and the same Electrodyne console used by many greats from what is known as "Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound. Besides those areas, there are also echo chambers in the basement. These echo chambers were bought from Capitol Records in New York, world reknowned for their warm sound.
Along with recording devices, the instruments and amplifiers are top notch. All equipment is free to use with recording and features such greats as: 2 Marshall JMP full stack guitar amps, 1 vintage Fender Musicman Tube Amp, 1 vintage Fender Showman tube head and cabinet, 1 original Fender Rhodes electric piano, 1 vintage B3 with leslie speakers and thousands of dollars worth of vintage recording microphones. This is no friend's basement. This is analog and digital recording at it's best. Analog is known for it's fat sound and amazing staying power in today's digital world. All the best albums were and are done on analog 2 in. tape then converted to digital. The studio is trying to help out more local bands get a strong demo or EP going along with perhaps getting their finished product off to the right channels in the industry. Phil comes with knowledge and many connections.
